Day 3 Blackgang Chine to Freshwater Bay 12 miles

Another warm and sunny day and an easy walk today along the cliff tops passing many chines along the way. There is a great deal of coastal erosion on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight where there aren't any coastal defences in place.

We had a lunch stop at Grange Chine where there was a convenient seat overlooking the beach.
Margaret managed to restrain herself from asking why these children weren't in school!
After lunch more walking along the cliffs and past the Isle of Wight Pearl with views of Freshwater in the distance.

It was very hot today and an ice cream van at Compton Bay car park was a welcome sight before covering the final stretch to Freshwater Bay. The last bus from here was at 16.38 and we were in time for it but decided to stay on the beach as the weather was so good. Margaret had an 'A' party swim which was a bit difficult as the beach was shelving and pebbly.

After relaxing on the beach for a while we walked inland to Freshwater village and had a meal at the Vine Inn before catching the bus back to Newport. Another brilliant day completely different from previous days.
